A mark that holds up on a ute.
Logo design for tradies and local service businesses, from $490 flat, ex GST. Three concepts, unlimited revisions to sign-off, and every source file in your hands at the end — vector, PNG and SVG, in primary, stacked and reversed versions.
One flat price, three concepts, and the files a printer can actually use.
Most tradie businesses buy a logo twice. The first one comes cheap off a marketplace, arrives as a single low-resolution image, and falls apart the moment a signwriter asks for vector artwork or someone tries to put it on a dark background. The second one costs more because it has to undo the first. We price a logo at $490 ex GST, flat, and hand over the complete file set at sign-off — vector master, PNG and SVG, in primary, stacked and reversed layouts — so the next person who needs it, whether that is a printer, a wrap shop or a web developer, can work from it without coming back to us.

Five ways a tradie logo falls over
A logo for a tradie business lives a harder life than a logo for an office. It gets read at 60km/h, printed on a curved surface, embroidered into fabric, and shrunk to 32 pixels in a browser tab. These are the failures we design against, and the reason we test every mark in those conditions before you ever see it.
A crest with fine linework looks impressive on a screen and turns to mush on a business card, a favicon or an embroidered polo. If a mark does not still read at 16 millimetres, it will fail on most of the places your business actually uses it. We check every concept at that size first, not last.
Hairline strokes and thin typography disappear when a wrap shop cuts them in vinyl or a printer runs them small. What looked crisp in the design file comes back broken or filled in. Weight gets chosen with production in mind, not just how it looks at hero size.
Tradie work is full of dark surfaces — a black ute, navy workwear, a dark website footer. A logo supplied only in its dark-on-light form gets bodged by whoever needs it reversed, usually by dropping it into a white box. Every mark we deliver includes a reversed version designed on purpose.
If the difference between your logo and the next one is the colour, it stops working the moment someone faxes a quote, photocopies a compliance certificate or prints in mono. We resolve every mark in one colour before we add any, which is why the shape carries the recognition.
A ute is a billboard moving past someone at 60km/h. Script typefaces, tight letter-spacing and a phone number set at the same weight as the trading name all cost you the read. The hierarchy gets set for the distance the mark is actually seen from.
What to have ready, and what you can skip.
You do not need a mood board or a written brand strategy. Four things move a logo project faster than anything else, and none of them take long to pull together.
- Photos of where the logo has to live — the ute, the workwear, the yard sign, the last quote you sent.
- Two or three businesses whose look you rate, and one you cannot stand. The dislike is often more useful than the likes.
- The exact trading name you want on the mark, and whether a phone number or strapline sits with it.
- Anything you already own — an old logo file, a colour someone once picked, a font your quotes use.
Common questions about logo design
How much does logo design cost?+
Our logo design starts at $490 ex GST as a flat price, agreed in writing before we start. That covers three initial concepts, unlimited revisions to sign-off, and every source file in primary, stacked and reversed versions. If you also want a colour palette, typography system and submark, the brand identity kit at $790 is the cheaper way to get there than buying them separately.
What do I actually receive at the end?+
Vector artwork (the master file a printer or signwriter works from), plus PNG and SVG versions for the web, each in primary, stacked and reversed layouts. Reversed matters more than people expect for trades — it is the version that goes on a dark ute wrap or a black polo shirt without turning to mud.
How many concepts and revisions do I get?+
Three initial concepts, then unlimited revisions to sign-off. We show three genuinely different directions rather than one idea in three colours, you pick the one worth developing, and we refine it until you are happy to put it on a ute.
How long does a logo take?+
Two to three weeks from brief to final files, typically. The design work moves quickly — the variable is how fast you come back on each round. If you have a deadline, a trade show or a ute going in for a wrap, tell us at the brief and we work to it.
Do I own the logo outright?+
Yes. Every source file, every colour code and the full copyright transfers to you at sign-off. There is no licence to renew, no annual fee, and nothing you have to come back to us for. Take it to any other designer or printer whenever you want.
Will the logo work on a ute, a shirt and a website?+
That is the test we design against. A logo that only works at hero size on a website is useless to a trades business. We check every mark small, in one colour, and reversed on dark before we show it to you, because those three cases are where most logos fall apart.
Can you redraw a logo I already have?+
Often, yes. If you have a mark that customers already recognise but no usable files — just a JPEG someone made years ago — we can rebuild it properly as vector artwork and give you the full file set. Send us what you have and we will tell you straight whether redrawing or replacing is the better spend.
Can I add the palette and typography later?+
Yes, and it costs you nothing extra to wait. Upgrading from logo design to the brand identity kit is the $300 difference between the two, not the full $790 — the logo work you have already paid for carries over rather than being redone. Start with the mark if that is all you need today.
Do I have to run ads with you to buy a logo?+
No. Logo design stands alone as a one-off project. It also folds into a campaign retainer as a line on the same invoice if you are already running media with us — but there is no requirement to buy one to get the other.
