What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as pages you viewed, how long you spent on the site, and whether you have visited before. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your device.
How we use cookies
Scalepoint uses cookies and similar technologies, including browser local storage, on scalepoint.au for two main purposes: to understand how visitors use the site (analytics) and to measure the effectiveness of any advertising we run to promote our own services (advertising). We do not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information without your knowledge, and we do not sell cookie data to third parties.
Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies collect anonymised information about pages visited, time on site, and general location, which helps us understand what is working and improve the site. We use Google Analytics (loaded via Google Tag Manager) for this, and PostHog, which additionally records which buttons and forms are used so we can see where visitors get stuck. PostHog stores its identifier in browser local storage as well as in a cookie. We also use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure page performance; these do not set cookies. Advertising cookies are set by the Meta pixel, which runs on every page of this site so that visits can be matched to any Meta advertising we run, and may also be set by Google if we run paid campaigns pointing here. These track whether a visit resulted from an ad click and help measure campaign performance.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies on this site are set by third-party services we use: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, PostHog (product analytics), and Meta (advertising measurement). These third parties have their own privacy policies governing how they use the data collected, and we do not control third-party cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and control Meta's use of activity from other websites in the Ad Preferences section of your Facebook or Instagram account. PostHog and the Meta pixel are both blocked by most browser tracking-protection settings and common ad-blocking extensions, and by browsers that send a Global Privacy Control signal.
Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, or to alert you before a cookie is stored. Blocking all cookies will affect the functionality of some websites, including this one. Instructions for managing cookies vary by browser, refer to your browser's help documentation for specific guidance.
Cookie duration
Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period, typically between 30 days and 2 years depending on their purpose, or until you delete them manually. Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics have a default retention period of 2 years. PostHog's identifier defaults to 12 months, and the Meta pixel's main cookie to 90 days. Clearing your browser's cookies and local storage removes all of them.
